📐 About This Calculator
GPA is the credit-weighted average of your grade points: each course’s grade times its credits, summed, then divided by total credits. CGPA does the same across semesters.
GPA = Σ(grade × credits) ÷ Σ(credits)
TARGET GPA (needed on remaining credits):
required = [target × (done + remaining) − current × done] ÷ remaining
Variable Definitions:
- • grade = Grade point for a course (e.g. A = 4.0)
- • credits = Credit hours for the course
✅ Best used for:
- • Semester and cumulative GPA
- • Planning to reach a target GPA
- • Comparing grade scales
⚠️ Limitations:
- • Grade-to-point mappings differ by institution
- • Does not model pass/fail or audited courses
📖 How GPA is Calculated
GPA vs CGPA
GPA usually refers to a single term; CGPA (cumulative) averages all terms, again weighted by credits.
Grade scales
Institutions use 4.0, 5.0 or 10.0 scales. Enter grade points on your scale — the weighting works the same way.
