📐 About This Calculator
Percent means "per hundred". This tool solves the eight most common percentage problems, from simple discounts to CAGR and reverse percentages.
X% of Y = Y × (X ÷ 100)
X is ?% of Y = (X ÷ Y) × 100
% change = ((new − old) ÷ old) × 100
add/subtract = X ± X×(P ÷ 100)
% difference = |A−B| ÷ ((A+B) ÷ 2) × 100
CAGR = ((end ÷ start)^(1/years) − 1) × 100
reverse = final ÷ (1 ± P/100)
Variable Definitions:
- • X, Y = Input values
- • P = A percentage
✅ Best used for:

📖 How Percentages are Calculated
What is a percentage?
A percentage expresses a part out of 100. 15% of 100 is 15. Every mode here builds on this idea.
% change vs % difference
% change is directional (old → new). % difference is symmetric — A vs B gives the same result either way. Choosing the right one matters.
Reverse percentage
If a price is 800 after a 20% discount, the original was 800 ÷ 0.8 = 1000. Reverse mode recovers the pre-change value.
